I love this tradition....it has been 2 years since we last did this. It is always fun to see it from beginning to end. And there is inevitably a crash at the end. We have parents standing by to help get the little ones on the top layer and to catch them when they fall.
This year, Maddy was the first one that lost her balance. She just about took a header off the front and Kim luckily caught her by the end of her dress. I think the trouble started with Tyson.....reportedly, he was showing off and clapping. Yes....clapping. He was the middle spot on the bottom row....a key component to the stability of the whole pyramid. Malan said each time he clapped the whole thing would shake. That must have been where the little kids' squeals were coming from.
This year we had grandkids from age 24 (Matt) to age 1 (Bradley). I can't wait to see it when we have a spread from 30 - 1. That will be a big, impressive pyramid....
What a fun tradition! If only I were the type of person to remember and carry through with traditions. I guess maybe that is why Dad and Mom always said we break all traditions. Looks like everyone had a blast.
